Career Ready & Impetus

Part of the Connect Fund: a partnership with The Centerbridge Foundation, Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropy, The Towerbrook Foundation, Sainsbury's and Bain & Company

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Impetus to further invest in young, diverse talent across the UK. This partnership will enable us to accelerate our growth and impact in the next stage of our strategic journey, ensuring that more young people are able to access the workplace opportunities and support they need to achieve their potential in life.

– Tokunbo Ajasa-Oluwa, CEO, Career Ready

The need: Young people from better-off backgrounds are 80% more likely to be in a professional job than their working class peers. Career Ready’s mission is to change this by connecting young people and employers, empowering them, and giving undiscovered and diverse talent a platform to flourish from.

Our charity partner: Career Ready works in 33/50 of the most disadvantaged Local Authorities in England, making a transformational difference to young lives, boosting their social mobility, attainment, and wellbeing through mentoring, paid internships, skills masterclasses, workplace visits, and wider careers activities.

Our impact: Impetus is committed to supporting Career Ready so it is positioned for growth, starting with the development of their post-16 programmes, specifically by growing the number of paid internships, supporting the new alumni offer. This will involve a focus on quality and rigour, developing the organisation’s impact management, improving their data collection and targeting of young people, so it can reach more young people nationally, with targeted employability support.
